Teaching Hospital
Bright and enthusiastic student interns are an integral part of our team – they are the veterinarians of the future. Our students are studying to be vets because they love animals and this is their chance to move beyond the lecture room and the theory and see what practice is all about.
Under the supervision of our qualified clinicians they learn how to care compassionately for animals and they will make friends with your pet, attend to its individual dietary and exercise requirements and provide you with regular updates on its progress.
For information about our undergraduate courses see Bachelor of Veterinary Science. See Postgraduate Coursework for details of postgradute programs on offer.
The University Veterinary Centre Sydney is a purpose built veterinary hospital located in the heart of Sydney.
It consists of the recently constructed Valentine Charlton Cat Centre with a state of the art intensive care unit, radio iodine suite for the treatment of cats with hyperthyroidism and extensive hospital and boarding facilities, and an older but still very effective canine hospital.

Reconstruction of the canine facility is to commence in July 2007 and will provide an upgrade of the intensive care unit and hospital facilities as well as a facelift for the consulting area.
As a part of this rebuild, advanced imaging in the form of a CT scanner and a MRI unit will be installed with work due to be completed before the end of the 2007.
The clinic has two dedicated surgeries where procedures ranging from speys to heart surgery are performed as well as areas where less invasive procedures such as the removal of small lumps and endoscopy can be undertaken.
The clinic also has a plasma steriliser to allow for the sterilisation of items such as the endoscopy equipment.
Our recently purchased endoscopy unit allows the non-invasive examination of both gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts with the production of high quality digital still and video images.
Currently diagnostic imaging offers many options to examine our patients, click on the link to view the page and have a look at what is currently available and our plans for the future.
