Ruminant and Dairy Science
The Dairy Research Foundation is located at the Camden Campus as part of the University of Sydney. It has a research laboratory (M.C. Franklin Laboratory) with facilities for carrying out a wide range of projects from applied nutrition to more basic physiology.
The commercial competitiveness of our dairy producers relies on establishing new technologies for breeding and feeding cows to maximise productivity while at the same time improving methods for milk harvesting and dairy product manufacture. The Dairy Research Foundation serves a unique role within Australia's dairy industry by integrating cutting edge research of dairy science and production with extension activities to disseminate this information among dairy farmers nationally.
The research and technology in Dairy Science focuses primarily on dairy farming in NSW but some of the research projects have national and international significance.
