On-time applications closing date is Tuesday, 30 September 2008. Late applications will be accepted but must be accompanied by a late fee.

When you complete the UAC application form you will be required to list, in order of priority, the courses for which you wish to be considered. You should give very careful consideration to your list of course preferences. You should elect as your first preference the course you most want to study. Minimum selection aggregates for courses vary from year to year. Therefore, you should not be inhibited from selecting a particular course because you feel that your HSC selection aggregate may not reach last year's minimum selection aggregate for that course.

Offer, Acceptance, Deferment
You should know the result of your application by late January 2009. If you receive an offer of a place in the main round in another Faculty, you should accept it. No assurance can be given that any final round offers will be made. If you are offered enrolment in your first preference, you will not be made a further offer of enrolment unless you change your preferences.

Applications for deferment must be completed during the newly commencing student enrolment period at the `Deferment' desk in the Student Centre. Offer of enrolment cards (sent out by UAC) must be submitted with deferment applications. Deferment for a maximum period of one year may be permitted on the grounds of misadventure or hardship, but will not be granted to enable an applicant to complete or undertake another tertiary course of study. Applicants will be informed of the decision in writing.

Credit for courses completed
If you have already completed some tertiary study you may be eligible for credit for the courses already completed, however students are not admitted to the BVSc course with advanced standing. Application for credit must be made separately after enrolment and no decision or comment on the likelihood of success or otherwise of the application will be made before then.

Application forms are available from the Faculty Office. Students seeking exemptions are to supply detailed information with their application. A course or unit outline and a copy of the result notice including an explanation of the codes which appear on the notice. Copies of detailed learning objectives or topics should also be provided if possible.

Applicants with exclusion records
If you have already attended a tertiary institution and have been excluded, or are liable for exclusion, from a faculty or course, you should give a detailed statement of the reasons for your failure and why you consider you now have a chance of succeeding in the course of your choice. If your statement is based on medical grounds it must be supported by medical reports.

In addition to your UAC application, you must attach your statement to a Special Consideration for Admission form obtainable from the Student Centre, University of Sydney and return it no later than 28 November 2008 to the Admissions Office, University of Sydney NSW 2006.
