Honours of Veterinary Public Health

The Master of Veterinary Public Health (Honours) (MVPH(Hons)) is a coursework program comprised of:

• Distance education units of study
• Research project

• To develop knowledge and skills in veterinary public health particularly veterinary epidemiology, food science, zoonoses, disease control, animal health economics and animal health policy development
• To develop particular expertise in one or more relevant fields of veterinary public health according to the electives chosen by the student
• To develop skills in research methods via a research project

Animal health professionals who want a career path in veterinary public health and who realise a need for further training to support the technical aspects of current and future employment.

A candidate for the Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Master of Veterinary Public Health who achieves a minimum WAM of 75 in their first 24 credit points of study may apply to complete the Master of Veterinary Public Health with honours.

Candidates must satisfactorily complete 12 credit points of research in addition to the requirements of the Masters, granting a minimum of 60 credit points.

A full-time candidate will complete the requirements for the Masters in a minimum of 3 semesters and a maximum of 4 semesters. A part-time candidate will complete the requirements for a Masters in a minimum of 5 semesters and a maximum of 9 semesters.

A Master of Veterinary Public Health with a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 75 in the first 24 credit points of candidature.
