Summary
The Surveillence, Preparedness & Response unit of study will cover the following topics:
- national and international animal health surveillance programs;
- role of animal health information systems;
- effective responses to animal health emergencies.
Learning Outcomes
After studying this unit you will be able to:
- explain how surveillance contributes to the assessment and management of risks that affect public health, animal health, or trade;
- provide advice on the development of a surveillance strategy to meet defined objectives;
- describe a preferred framework for managing animal health emergencies.
Assumed Knowlege
Studies in Veterinary Epidemiology 1 and Hazards to Human and Animal Health will provide the base knowledge and skills required for this unit.
Assessment
Assessment of the Aquatic Animal Epidemiology unit of study will include:
- participation in online class (15%);
- individual Assignment (45%);
- group Assignment (40%).
