2010 5th Year Intern Program

2010 Intern Rotation Schedule

Due to resource restrictions and personal preferences, there are 12 group schedules from which interns can be allocated using a preferenece and ballot system.

The sequence of rotations is different for each of the 12 groups of approximately 10 interns. This means that intern groups begin any given rotation period with different prior experience, skills and self confidence. To review the basic Rotation Schedule, visit the following link:

Deferral of 5th Year - 2010 and Your Intern Rotation Schedule

If after being allocated a 5th year group for 2010, you decide to defer or undertake the Bachelor of Science Veterinary (BScVet) instead of 5th Year in 2010 then:

1/ The group you are allocated to is no longer valid and is cancelled. You will be required to enter preferences for a group for 2011.

2/ You are required to notify the Co-ordinator Extramural Placements and the 5th Year Co-ordinator in writing that you are will not be undertaking 5th year in 2010 as intended, and outline why. You will also need to request that the year you are indicated to be in, via the Virtual Veterinary Campus be reset to 3rd year so that you can enter group preferences at the end of 2009, for 2011.

3/ If you are deferring, the usual process is for the university to suspend your uni extro key and password access, until you re-enrol. You will need to request that the Co-ordinator Extramural Placements, notifies ITC to continue your uni extro key and password access, so that you may enter preferences and have access to the Virtual Veterinary Campus whilst deferred, to meet 5th year organisational requirements.

4/ Students undertaking the BScVet are required to select groups which allow them to undertake two vacation periods first, to facilitate the change over and enrolment from the Bachelor of Science Vet to the Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the above is undertaken, so that you may have a smooth transition into 5th year. All correspondence is to be sent to clinicalstudies@vetsci.usyd.edu.au

Note, the above is in addition to the standard faculty policy on deferring or applications for the BScVet.
