Assessment Information

Purpose of Assessment

Assessment is used to measure a student's achievement of the learning outcomes for each unit of study. Both the learning outcomes and the assessment events should align with the intended profile of a successful postgraduate coursework graduate. A successful graduate of the VPHMgt and ABMgt programs:

  • possesses an up-to-date body of knowledge and skills in their field
  • demonstrates leadership and effective management skills
  • has a global perspective on veterinary public health issues (VPHMgt only)
  • has a global perspective on issues in animal breeding and genetics (ABMgt only)
  • is a creative and critical thinker
  • is an effective problem solver
  • demonstrates effective communication skills
  • uses information and communication technologies as required for professional development
  • can work effectively alone or in teams
  • is committed to ethical action
  • appreciates the need for lifelong professional learning.

There are a number of assessed tasks designed to test the learning outcomes in each unit of study. Students will receive detailed feedback from the facilitator for each assessment. The majority of assessment is conducted by individual, group or paired assignments as well as participation, both online and at residentials. There are no examinations in the VPHMgt and ABMgt programs.
